Hon Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, the leader of the Wiper Democratic Party, has been generating political news for the better part of this week. He dropped out of the Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya Alliance and proclaimed his intention to run for president.
A number of Azimio politicians have accused hardliners in Wiper, led by Makueni County Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr, MP Dan Maanzo, and Kitui Senator Enoch Kiio Wambua, of misleading Kalonzo. Kalonzo was widely expected to be picked as Raila Odinga's running partner, and he pledged not to accept anything less.
Professor Makau Mutua, the spokesperson for Raila Odinga's presidential campaign secretariat, met with Kalonzo today. It's also worth mentioning that Makau is a member of the legal team that prepared the Azimio coalition agreement. Wambua was also present for the conference.
Kalonzo has stated on the record that he will take a week off from national politics to reflect on his political career. Kalonzo has been advised not to return to Azimio by DP William Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza Alliance partners.
Is Kalonzo returning to Raila's camp?
