There were claims that the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) will be rejected in Mt Kenya region because of ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Former ODM Deputy Communications Director Seth Odongo alias Dikembe Disembe has however praised the region after a number of counties from Mt Kenya have passed the Bill.
Leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto from Mt Kenya had claimed that the BBI Bill is unpopular in parts of Mt Kenya region because of Raila adding that it will be rejected.
After the Bill was passed in several counties in the region, Disembe said Mt Kenya must have realized that the document will not benefit Raila but the people of Mt Kenya.
Disembe further said that the former Prime Minister will not be a Member of Parliament in the region since the BBI when endorsed will create more constituencies in Mt Kenya.
“I think Kenyans are beginning to mature up. We heard just three weeks ago how BBI would not pass in Mt. Kenya because of Raila this Raila that. But people realize Raila was not going to be the MP of the more than 17 new constituencies in Mt. Kenya #BBI was creating,” said Disembe.
Following the claims that Raila is making BBI unpopular in Mt Kenya, the former Prime Minister was forced to send a message to the region saying that BBI is not a Raila’s project adding that the region stands to benefit in the proposed amendments if it is endorsed in a referendum.
The allies of DP Ruto had expressed confidence that BBI will be rejected in Mt Kenya but after President Uhuru Kenyatta’s visit, the leaders voiced their unanimous support for the document.
