Opinion: What Uhuru Raila New Found Bromance Means For One Kenya Movement

After what appeared as a stormy relationship between the handshake brothers, president Uhuru Kenyatta was alleged to have visited the ODM leader at his Karen home.

What followed next was a show of unity as the president and Raila were captured in public in an extensive inspection tour of the Greens Park Terminus on Haile Selassie Avenue and consequently the official opening of the 48 km Ngong-Kiserian-Isinya road in Kajiado county.

The president exits office in August next year and already talks are rife about his successor. One Kenya Movement led by Senator Gideon Moi, Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula are of late seen as having the president ear.

A 'reunion' between Raila Odinga and Uhuru could possibly mean two things; a stronger One Kenya alliance with the inclusion of Raila or a weaker one without Uhuru's support.

It is said that a day in politics means alot and much can still be expected. However, what has baffled many is how the president has managed to hold to Raila, the Sacred Alliance and still be at the center of a 'new' coastal party, all at the same time.

At one point, the president was quoted saying that his choice of whom to support in the 2022 presidential race will surprise many. It's barely a year left and only time will tell.
