"MPs Pocket at Least 100,000 For 600 Kilometers Mileage", Says Gladys Wanga

According to the latest reports by the auditor general ,it is indicated that members of Parliament were paid more than sixteen million shillings for exaggerated mileage claims.

According to the report, the members of Parliament received mileage allowance while they were on foreign trips enjoying allowances of foreign travel.

Also the auditor general faults the payment of 500 million shillings to prisons department for supplies that were never made .In a morning discussion that was held on citizen television where Trevor Ombija hosted Gladys Wanga, Governor Mutua and Senator Wamatangi to speak on various issues affecting the nation.

Gladys Wanga said that to be paid in mileage it varies from the CC of your vehicle and the mileage to your furthest place in your constituency.

The rates are taken from the standardized AA rates and she said for 600 kilometers the member of Parliament can walk away with at least 100,000 shillings per week as they are expected to visit their constituencies every weekend and return by Tuesday.

However senator Kimani wa Matangi said that when he was the member of Parliament for Kiambu he was never paid the mileage allowances because Kiambu is near Nairobi.

What do you think about members of Parliament pocketing 3 times their mileage allowance while others never make trips to their constituencies yet they claim the allowances ?
