This was after the Court of Appeal upheld a Kenya High Court ruling that declared the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) constitutional amendment bill unconstitutional.
The verdict drew mixed reactions from political leaders, who took to social media to express their approval and disappointment.
“The Constitution was drawn up by Wanjiku and so it is for Wanjiku and its basic structure can only be changed by Wanjiku,” said Duale.
In a statement released Friday evening, Duale said that with this landmark judgment from the appeals court, it's definitely the end of the road for BBI!
“Wanjiku won! We have been justified. BBI was an elaborate plan to define President Uhuru Kenyatta's 2022 succession policy, ”said Duale.
“We knew it from day one. He has been marginalized in parts of our country. Shame on the BBI handshake and nonsense, ”added Duale.
