Big Blow To Raila As President Ruto Answers Him On Countrywide Protests

Regarding his plans to organize nationwide protests in support of Juliana Cherera, vice chair of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), President William Ruto has compared opposition leader Raila Odinga to a dictator.

On November 28, Ruto claimed that Raila was trying to sabotage the country's peace for his own benefit as well as Cherera's and the interests of the four other commissioners who were up for removal.

The president objected to the strategy that the head of Azimio had decided to employ and sent Raila a veiled warning.

Any serious opposition should avoid using street demonstrations and fighting unless they want to become a dictatorial opposition, which I don't think they do "remarked Ruto.

Although the opposition's criticism was welcomed, the head of state contended that it shouldn't come at the expense of Kenyans.

"Organizing protests and ordering Kenyans to carry out their wishes do not, in my opinion, constitute part of keeping the government accountable.

Our nation is being consolidated and restructured. I want to urge our oppositional brethren to cooperate with us, criticize what they see fit, but let's keep the nation peaceful "The President repeated himself.
