Aisha Jumwa Misses Murder Trial After "Falling Sick" Allegedly on a 5-Day Bed Rest

The murder trial of vocal Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa in the killing of an ODM supporter in 2019 has been adjourned to a later date after the politician allegedly fell sick.

According to sources, the politician was supposed to attend trials for four consecutive days this week but hearings had to be postponed after the lawmaker failed to show up in court.

Through her lawyer Danstan Omari, Jumwa claimed that she was ill and the doctors advised her to take 5-day bed rest and she couldn't therefore make it to travel to Mombasa to stand the trials.

Efforts of the prosecutors to object Jumwa's plead, claiming it was a plan to derail trial thus requesting issuance of warrant of arrest, were rendered futile after her lawyer produced medical documents in support of the claim.

The judge adjourned the session to February 1, and demanded for a comprehensive medical report.

The case has now been postponed severally as it first hearing was slated for February 2021.
