According to news hitting the air waves just now Agriculture cabinet secretary Peter Munya has suspended all levies on the importation of Maize and Animal feeds products.
The measure comes at the backdrop of worrying unga prices that have clearly taken a toll on the country's economy.
I have suspended all levies on imports for Maize and Animal feed products effective 1st July, 2022.
This initiative is aimed at lowering the cost of maize flour and animal feed in the country for the next 90 days before the next harvest.
The new measures will help in fastracking the clearance of trucks at the border points where major snarl up has been witnessed.
Kenyans across the country have been accusing the current leadership of being the reason behind the hiked unga prices.
There has been allegations that the government increased the unga prices to for the jubilee government to campaign using the scarce and expensive commodity.
Currently, Kenyans are buying unga at over 200 shillings making it hard for many to make ends meet.
