The Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development and Public Works,James Macharia approved three more staff to be members of the Nairobi Metropolitan Area Transport Authority Board, for a period of three years. This was to effect from date 10th of February this year.
This has raised alot of conversation owing to the fact that the three are from the same tribe, that is Gikuyu community, where the Cabinet Secretary is from.
The issue of tribalism in this country is what dominates every debate, it will reach appoint where every appointments made will be criticized no matter the qualification. The question that comes out is, what if the three made through the interview process and emerged the best? should they be denied chances only because they belong to the same tribe?
Many Netizens took to Twitter attacking the CS for this action. In my opinion, this appointment should be critically investigated and suppose it's found that the process was transparent, then issue of tribalism should not be the cry of every appointment, we let qualifications matter.
