Details Out On What Time Chebukati Is Going To Announce The Official Presidential Results

The official declaration of the results of the presidential election is scheduled to take place late today in the evening and will be made by the head of the IEBC, Wafula Chebukati. The panel is said to have gotten together on Sunday and come to the conclusion that they will continue tallying the votes on Monday. The legislation mandates that the commission must issue an official declaration of the results of the election for 2022 no later than Tuesday at midnight.

On Sunday, as the country awaited the results of the election, leading presidential contenders Raila Odinga and William Ruto called on citizens to remain calm and patient. Kenyans went to the polls last week Tuesday to elect a president, members of parliament, governors, and members of the county assembly; however, the results of the presidential vote have been delayed. The chairperson of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Wafula Chebukati, has pointed the finger of blame at agents for the sluggish speed at which the official vote tallying has been moving, which has increased public unease. The constitutional deadline for the release of the results is tomorrow Tuesday, but the outcome of the contest cannot yet be determined with certainty.
