Kenyans React as Court Drops Waititu's Case While Waluke is Sentenced to Jail

Former Kiambu Governor, Ferdinand Waititu

Kenyans have elicited mixed reactions following a series of court rulings regarding different corruption cases. Corruption has been the thorn in flesh hindering economic transformation of the country.

The court of appeal ruled that Sirisia member of parliament, John Waluke, should pay a fine of 1 billion or serve 67 years in jail. This means that if Waluke fails to pay the fine he will lose his seat as a member of parliament. Moody Awori's sister, Grace Wakhungu, also suffered the same fate.

In another ruling, the high court dropped charges facing the former Kiambu Governor, Ferdinand Waititu. The court dropped this case citing lack of evidence against the Ksh 588M graft case.

In yet another case, the high court ruled that the former Kipipiri MP, Amos Kimunya, who also doubled as the National Assembly Majority Leader, has case to answer in a corrupt deal which involved millions of money.

Kenyans have reacted differently where some people feel like the court is favoring the government side. Waluke belongs to Azimio coalition as well as Amos Kimunya. Ferdinand Waititu on the other hand supports Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
