Nairobi County Assembly Speaker, Benson Mutura, has been arrested by sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI).
Mutura was seized out of his City Hall office on Wednesday, April 20, afternoon, where he was driven to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters on Kiambu Road for interrogation.
Although the reason behind his arrest is yet to be made public, reports indicate that DCI officers raided his office and apprehended him.
Photos of him in handcuffs surfaced online minutes later. Photos that have since resurfaced online show Mutura in handcuffs, before being driven to the DCI headquarters for grilling.
During his arrest, detectives reportedly ransacked his office before leaving with him. The Speaker has not been in records of those who have brushed shoulders with the law enforcers before.
He at one time served as the County acting boss following Sonko's ouster, and before Governor Anne Kananu's swearing-in as Sonko's successor.
