Latest Official Presidential Results

As of 7:30 p.m. on August 14, 2022, the IEBC's official presidential results show that William Ruto maintains a sizable lead over his opponents.

As reported by the IEBC, William Ruto, the vice presidential candidate who came in second, received 52.46 percent of the total 4,775,268 votes cast.

Raila Odinga received 4,266,125 votes, or 46.87 percent.

George Wajackoyah, the leader of the Roots party, has currently collected 40,063 votes, or 0.44 percent of the total.

David Waihiga, leader of the Agano party, has gotten 21,398 votes, or 0.24 percent of the total.

While the Electoral Commission of Kenya races against the clock to meet Tuesday's deadline, adjustments have been made at the national tallying center in Bomas, Kenya, where the presidential results are validated.

Wafula Chebukati, chairperson of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), has announced new measures to speed up the certification of results from the returning officers.

It was originally assumed that the National Returning Officer would serve as the ultimate arbiter once the results from the verification desks ere delivered to them.

It takes three to four hours, according to Mr. Chebukati, for a single Returning Officer to finish the process. Of the 265 returning police officers, just 141 have had their paperwork handled.

According to the President of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), the new verification procedure will allow for faster processing of results and enable the IEBC to satisfy constitutional requirements for processing the results of the presidential election.
