This evening during the presidential debate,Ruto was asked on where he had been when lives were lost in the Kerio and ifhe had contributed anything to help improve the security in what is termed as the valley of death due to recent attacks by bandits and cattle rustlers. This has been a critical issue as far as national security is concerned as recently 140 people had lost their lives due to bandit attacks.
In his response, the Dp Stated that he had before been on a peace keeping mission himself. He organized communal meetings between the rival groups in his office , setting up peace meetings between the communities every two weeks. He further Stated that this team had been using their resources to bury citizens who had fallen amidst rivalry .
Consequently, their activities became a political agenda, according to H.E Ruto ,and the fallout between him and his boss later made his efforts become a tool against him."The withdrawal of the national reserves" Ruto added,"was really an unfortunate act but because it was intended to punish William Ruto, never mind that many people lost their lives..."
