"My View Of The Ground Now Is That Of UDA," Waiguru Admits As She Hints On Joining The Party

Ann Waiguru has been a popular face on Kenyan politics. It all started when she was the cabinet secretary for Devolution in Jubilee's first term and then one of the few female governors in Jubilee's second term.

During an interview with Nation news yesterday, Waiguru was asked where she would lie politically come 2022 and she replied," The Wanjiku's this round want to decide the direction the politicians go. Where I come from, the Wanjiku's are trending to be on the UDA side. Now I can make a choice and go against the grain and I could possibly win, and I would have to spend alot because its going against the grain."

When she was asked if she knew about the weary consequences in supporting UDA taking in mind that Purity Ngirici is among the orginal UDA founders and she replied," I am not coming to be given a favor, I am coming with a following. I have a following in Kirinyaga county and across the country. I have influence. If you are looking to be a president, you need all votes you can get. They can't say we have this one's votes therefore this one cannot come. How will you make it to Statehouse? It is in their interest to have my supporters, Martha Karua's supporters and Purity Ngirici's supporters. On whether I could get the UDA party ticket in a free and fair process, I will beat them all fair and square, hands-down."
