Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka's dream of seeking endorsement for the presidency in 2027 seems to be a pipe dream.Kalonzo has supported Azimio leader Raila Odinga for the top seat in various times in the past but it seems his efforts and plans to vie for the presidency in 2027 might be twarted.
Kitui senator Enoch Wambua and his Makueni counterpart Dan Maanzo are vouching for Kalonzo's endorsement unlike some of their counterparts in Wiper party and the affiliate parties in Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance.
Wiper party chairman Chirau Mwakwere is not for the idea of Kalonzo Musyoka being endorsed very soon.Chirau Ali Mwakwere believes Kalonzo need to do more ground work to galvanise support before he seeks endorsements for the top seat.He opined that his political experience tells him the Wiper Party leader is using a wrong approach to the whole issue.
"I’m speaking, not just as chairman of the Wiper Party, but also as a veteran politician in the country. The approach that Wiper is taking is a fallacy. You cannot just sit and wait for somebody to anoint you. One must prove that he is actually popular beyond his borders,” Mwakwere spoke to a local publication.
ODM Secretary general and Nairobi senator opined that it was too early for Kalonzo Musyoka to even think of 2027 which is five years away.He said the coalition was not ready for such talks at the moment since they are just from an election and the new adminstration is barely six months into power.
"We have just come from an election. It’s barely six months into the new [administration’s] term and I don’t think we can be talking about 2027 now,” Mr Sifuna opined.
