What is 2 Hrs to Defend 8 Yrs? Mutahi Ngunyi Inquires as he Defends Uhuru's Lengthy Speech.

Mutahi Ngunyi, a well-known political analyst, has justified President Uhuru Kenyatta's lengthy State of the Nation address delivered yesterday.

Kenyatta's address was possibly his longest since taking power in 2013. The president emphasized his administration's outstanding accomplishments in different economic sectors.

At one point, even the president himself complained that the speech was long.

“Najaribu kukatakata jamani hata mimi nimechoka (I'm trying to keep it short; even I am tired),” he said. The speech, which spanned more than two, hours saw legislators dozing off in the chambers.

Senator Kipchumba Murkomen of Elgeyo Marakwet expressed his displeasure with the length of the speech afterwards on social media.

"Parliament should pass a law to set the maximum time that future Presidents will take in the State of the Nation Address, he tweeted. However, Mutahi Ngunyi argues that since parliament is a house of records, Uhuru Kenyatta had a long record to bank. "What is 2 hours to account for eight years? Kenyans were in a hurry to go where?" He asked.
