Kandara member of parliament Alice Wahome has dismissed the appointment of Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua as Raila Odinga's running mate, with hopes that she will attract the women vote to the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance camp.
Speaking in Nyeri County on Tuesday during the burial of Rigathi Gachagua's elder brother Rarieni Gachagua, Wahome claimed that the appointment is a bait for women, without knowing what the women fraternity will stand to benefit on the Azimio government allocation.
She went on to said that the women factor is covered and embraced by Deputy President William Ruto under the Kenya Kwanza Alliance, and the women will not fall in to support Karua's camp.
"Naming of a woman is made to misled women, and we are not looking for one position, but for participation and 50 per cent of government. So we will not fall in to that bait. The appointment of a woman as a running mate, will not change the choice of Mount Kenya Region on who we are going to vote as the president, and that is William Ruto," she said.
She went on to express her confidence that Ruto and Gachagua would be forming the next government come August.
