William Samoei Ruto is not a new name in Kenya's present political terrain, the bearer is the country's first deputy president who hitherto stands a chance of succeeding his boss should his 2022 presidential shot hit the set target.
To actualize his Statehouse dream, the self-declared Chief Hustler is working around the clock to popularize his bid besides, nothing comes on a silver plate. One of the factors he is capitalising on is Mt Kenya support.
The region is a vote-richness hub with a midas political touch and this Samoei knows. He has established a good rapport with area residents with one of his footsoldiers assuring him that he commands over 85% of area support.
Kandara Member of Parliament (MP) is of a strong conviction that the man from Sugoi is uneatable in the region but Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader Alfred Mutua of a contrarian view.
Speaking on Sunday, the outspoken county boss revealed that he is the most popular and influential presidential candidate in Mt Kenya and those 'lying' to Samoei could be possibly living a lie.
Mutua's sentiments are a semi-replica of Kieni MP Kanini Kega who recently affirmed that the man from Sugoi is slowly losing ground to his competitors. With statistics to credit his claims, Kega projected that Ruto's fortunes will dwindle abruptly from their initial 90% to an average of 30%, will Mutua take the 70% segment? Time will tell.
