In the next nine months, the ODM party leader will fire his fifth presidential shot; will he hit the target? presumably not. Though anti-Raila crusaders believe the latter, his stalwarts believe that 2022 will be a Raila Moment, and they are working hard to make that happen.
Kanini Kega, a Kieni Member of Parliament (MP), is one of those pulling themselves up by their bootstraps to ensure that Raila Amollo Odinga is the fifth Head of State. The ardent pro-handshake crusader is assisting Agwambo in his political ascent and conquest of Mt Kenya.
Kega confidently stated a few weeks ago that Ruto's population in the region is rapidly dwindling as Baba's grows exponentially. Raila was a no-show in the area during the previous elections, but his historic handshake with Jomo Kenyatta's son has turned him into a local hero.
Mwangi Kiunjuri, the leader of The Service Party (TSP), echoed Kanini Kega's words, claiming that Jakom is gradually edging the self-declared Chief Hustler from the apex of Mt Kenya politics. Ruto has established himself as the region's kingpin, with the region serving as the foundation for his 2022 ambitions.
If Kiunjuri's argument holds political water, DP Ruto is on a perilous path, and his Statehouse-bound train will soon be impounded, fulfilling Murathe's pro-Raila prophecy. Mt Kenya is a vote-rich hub with a Midas touch, and Raila will be an unstoppable force with their support.
In a prophetic peep, Jubilee Party (JP) vice-chair David Murathe warned the pro-Ruto camp to brace themselves for a thrashing from Jakom, which he believes will give Samoei a run for his money, as it appears all will be well. Who will be the one to save William?
