The presidential campaigns have hit a fever pitch as the frontrunners traverse the nation in search of support to bolster their chances in the forthcoming election.
Joho, while addressing residents, fired at their competitor William Ruto accusing him to be behind the skyrocketing cost of maize flour. He claimed that Kenyans won't be safe if Ruto is elected as next president. He urged residents to vote Raila promising to bring free education, hospitals if elected. This prompted the crowd to chant 'tumechoka' revealing that they were tired of Ruto.
" Rais wa tano atakua Raila Odinga. Nilikua na sababu mingi ya kupinga Ruto. Jambo la kwanza anaeza kuiba mahindi kwenye magala, anaeza kuiba mashamba na kadhalika. Leo nimeshtuka eti miaka mitano iliyopita Ruto karibu amchape Uhuru kibao. Sasa mimi nauliza akipata kiti si atatuuwa. Huko Mombasa nitafanya bidi nilete watu wa ODM." Joho said.
This loosely translates to, " Our firth president is Raila Odinga. I had reasons not to support Ruto. He can steal maize in stores, land and other things. I was shocked to learn that Ruto nearly slapped Uhuru almost 5 years ago. If he gets power he can kill all of us. I will ensure ODM candidates win most seats in Mombasa."
Ruto on the other hand rallied Meru county to counter attack Azimio influence. He was accompanied by his running mate Rigathi Gachagua, MP Ndindi Nyoro, senator Mithika Linturi and a host of aspirants.
