A standoff occurred at the Law Society of Kenya headquarters on Gitanga Road on Tuesday morning when a party led by President Nelson Havi and another led by CEO Mercy Wambua battled over access to the grounds.
The guards stationed at the gate were likewise dismissed and the gate was also chained.
Later, another faction led by CEO Mercy Wambua forcibly unlocked the gate and gained access to the facility, but were unable to enter the offices.A contingent of police officers camped out at the office during the ensuing battle of words between the two factions.
Havi stated that the officers' presence was not unusual on the grounds and questioned why they were there given that LSK was not a state entity.
"This is harassment. They do not want us to perform our duties as LSK. It is as simple as that," he said.
