Good morning?
The Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) together with President-elect William Ruto has commenced giving answers to the questions asked by the seven Supreme Court judges yesterday.
In response to the question asked by Judge Isaac Lenaola on why the IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati couldn't take advantage of the remaining one day to the deadline that was to be on 16th August to summon all the commissioners, reach a consensus with them before announcing the final results, Chebukati has given a detailed report on what conspired.
He has revealed that before announcing the results, he took into consideration of what was going on at the National Tallying Centre as well as to his officials across the country.
He has argued that on that material day (15th August, 2022), there was a series of abduction of IEBC officials especially Returning Officers, arrests as well as violence that led to infliction of injuries at the tallying centre where he was one of the victims.
For that reason, he was forced to make the declaration on the final presidential results over fears that his security that of the Commission's officials was threatened.
