Tundu Lissu a great Tanzania's opposition leader was forced into exile in Belgium in 2017. Tundu is the Vice chairperson of political party CHADEMA in Tanzania. According to his saying, he has been eager to meet the current president of Tanzania Samia Suluhu Hassan since she entered into office after the death of John Pombe Maguguli.
Mr.Lissu made an effort to meet President Samia Suluhu Hassan where she had gone to attend an Organization of Africa, Caribbean and Pacific States meeting in Brassels, Belgium. According to the state statement they had a brief meeting where no further details were revealed but the two are said to have discussed issues of common interests for Tanzanians.
The Tanzania's opposition leader fled to Belgium for treatment after his car was hit with several bullets in 2017 when he was leaving parliament buildings. This was seen as an assassination attempt where he survived with injuries during Magufuli's reign.
