With merely 12 months to 2022 General Elections, a number of speculations have been emerging of whether 2022 polls might be postponed or not.

Speaking on Tv47's Morning Cafe show on Wednesday 11th of August, Embakasi North Constituency Member of Parliament Hon James Gakuya rubbished the rumours and shared his thoughts as to why it isn't that simple for a General Elections to be postponed by the President's wish.

"Nobody can stop Elections because it is not at the mercy of the President. There's a Judiciary that supports independence" said the Embakasi North Legislator.

According to Gakuya, President Uhuru Kenyatta has no powers to pospone elections at his own will because the Judiciary which protects the Constitution is there to ensure every thing goes as stated by the Constitution of Kenya.
