Petitioner Hassan Mohamed Adan has who is seeking for the nullification of Wajir county governor Ahmed Abdullahi's win in the 2022 August General elections, has won big after the court ruled in his favour.

Hassan had requested the court to allow him add 16 more polling stations to the 27 he had previously requested to be scrutinized.
In the application seen by this source, he had requested that the court order the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to avail to the court all ballot boxes and packets of counterfoils of used ballot papers from the 2022 gubernatorial election in the polling stations he had mentioned for inspection, scrutiny, and recount of all valid votes.
However, according to the presiding Judge, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission who is a respondent in the case did not respond to his application.
While allowing the Petitioner to ammend his Petition, the judge argued that there will be no prejudice suffered by the respondents who include governor Ahmed Abdullahi Jir and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.
Hassan wants the election of the Orange Democratic Movement party governor to be overturned on the grounds that the gubernatorial election in Wajir East constituency was not conducted in accordance with the country's constitution and election laws.
The order is a setback fir the governor who is fighting to keep his seat.

The others involved in case battles include Homabay county governor Gladys Wanga whose election was challenged by former Nairobi governor Dr Evans Kidero and her Busia county counterpart Paul Otuoma whose election was challenged by Sakwa Bunyasi.
