Kenya's top lawyer and activist, Patrick Loch Otieno Lumumba has expressed his views on the way Kenyans should celebrate Mashujaa Day. He gave a number of recommendations on how the country should mark the significant day in which it's heroes and heroines are celebrated.

Lumumba said there are people whose activities and good qualities must be given pride and recognition. He recommend that the country should have streets named after such legendary people to keep their memory alive for the current generation and generations to come.

According to him, history is very important and if there is no sense of history it will be hard to build a future. "If you look at the law now, it does recognize that the museums are very critical. The National Government has a role to play as well as the devolved Governments in implementing this," said P.L.O

He added that the Governments have to be funded and money put into significant projects that develop Kenya's history. "Kenyans must recognize that if we don't have a sense of history, we cannot have a sense of the future," he added.
