The decision by Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance to cancel the planned parallel Jamhuri Day celebration has continued to attract different reactions.
While speaking to Citizen Tv, Langata member of parliament Phelix Jalang'o disclosed the plans they had put in place during the parallel celebration.
He said that they had similar preparation like the usual celebration that happen during national holidays which include, inspection of the guard of honor, full fledged band and the address by the opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Phelix Jalango remarked, "The turnout at Kamkunji was a good turnout for a Wednesday but Jamhuri day would have been bigger. The govt knew we would outshine what the President was doing if we had a parallel celebration."
Political analyst Arnold Maliba thanked Raila Odinga for the bold decision to call off the Jamhuri rally because Kenyans are fatigued with politics; we’ve been politicking for the last two to three years.
Policy Analyst Abdullahi Alas advised President Ruto to focus on the politics of economics and not the politics of elections & parties since Kenyans are struggling.
"The idea of reducing the discussion of the country to only two people is missing the point," he remarked.
