Ruto Ally Makes a Funny Remark About Karua, Remembers What Happened to Her in 2013

ODM leader Raila Odinga should not fool himself that Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua will help him get the women vote in August, he has been told.

Raila on Monday unveiled Karua as his running mate in KICC, a move seen as aimed at handing the former Prime Minister both the women and Mt Kenya vote as he seeks to occupy the presidency.

But Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot, an ally of Kenya Kwanza aspirant William Ruto, has laughed off the plan, reminding Raila that Karua has been vying and losing and cannot be expected to deliver anything.

He recalls when Karua personally sought the presidency and failed, wondering how she is now expected to give Raila votes as a running mate yet she couldn't get the same votes when she was a presidential candidate.

"Kwani where had Kenyan women migrated to in 2013? KuZimia are now telling us Martha will deliver the mirage called women vote to their side. Surely, If she couldn't do it as the main name on the ballot, how will she fair now as running mate? Manage your hysteria please," he says in a tweet.

But Karua's picking by Raila seems to have excited the country, with women and female leaders from across the country coming out to celebrate and thank Raila for considering her.

She stands to be the country's first female Deputy President should Raila's candidacy sail through. Ruto, Raila's main rival, has on the other hand picked Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua as his running mate.
