It is reported that three people are believed to have been in the quarry when the incident occurred. Authorities told standard digital that the incident happened on Tuesday morning when Miners were on their daily routine of harvesting sand from the quarry.
Villagers have joined hands to rescue the trapped individuals. An eyewitness Joseph Tanui said the walls of the quarry collapsed at about 10 a.m. when the group was just starting the day's work.
He also added that some miners had not started entering the quarry but if they had entered all of them in the quarry then it could be a very big tragedy.
The eyewitness said they are not sure of those who have been trapped inside but we have been told more than three people are inside.
They are the first people to start working at the quarry at around 6 a.m.everyday.
The residents were using their hands and spades to take up the rubble.
The residents are calling on county government to deploy a machine that can work faster save the lives if any.
Bomet County disaster officer Stanley Mutai said the disaster management team has been mobilised to join the locals in the rescue operations.
