The Deputy President William Ruto is for the first time contesting for presidential election. He is expected to lock horns with the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance flag bearer Raila Odinga. The two have identified regions they feel are their strongholds.
For a long time now, Ruto has been recognized as the Kalenjin Kingpin. He has been giving them Political direction in every electioneering period. The six counties that forms the Kalenjin land include Nandi, Baringo, Kericho, Bomet, Elgeyo Marakwet and Uasin Gishu. Ruto is expected to be overwhelmingly voted in the six counties in the coming election.
However, Ruto may not beat Raila with a big margin in Uasin Gishu county. The county is somehow metropolitan in nature due to the presence of many non Kalenjin people dwelling there especially in Eldoret town. Uasin Gishu county is county where Azimio is also going to field candidates for the MCAs and MP seats.
Azimio is expected to have a candidate in Turbo constituency parliamentary race. The coalition is also likely to have MCA candidates in Langas, Kapsoya, Huruma and Kiplombe wards. If Ruto is not careful, he will beat Odinga with small number of votes in Uasin Gishu county.
