Thousands Of Nubians Evicted From Their Ancestral Homes for Railway Rehabilitation.

Thousands of residents were left homeless after the demolition in Kibos , Kisumu. On Friday 5, 2021, the residents in Kibos were displaced after Kenya Railway bulldozers demolished their homes.

These humble Kenyans are known to belong to Nibian community who have been in this place for more than 83 years. This demolition happened on Friday night. The residents were left without alternative even if they received a notice earlier, they never knew the day.

Since the demolition was done under very tight security, the residents had no one to ask questions about the situation. The residents had to spend the night in the cold.

A young child was also killed in the process where the kid was buried by materials from the houses. The 3000 Nubian families were left homeless. Some churches and mosques were also demolished.

The county government has set aside a temporary place to settle the people, also providing with tents before they are permanently settled.
