Kenyans were proud to have some of government operations devolved to grassroots as per 2010 consitution. Some citizens expected that devolution would solve some of their problems. However devolution has faced numerous challenges. One of the challenge is mismanagement of public funds. Today senate house scheduled dates for summoning of the forty seven governors across the country.
The senate house in exercise of it's consitutional mandate under the senate county public accounts and investments committee scheduled dates for questioning of all county governors. The committee published dates on which governors will appear before the committee to answer audit queries raised by auditor general from may to September 2021.
The letter was shared through national parliament official Facebook page. The committee will be chaired by Migori senator Hon. Ochilo Ayacko. The auditing is aimed at enhancing transparency in county governments. This auditing comes days after council of governors converged for a consultative meeting in Nairobi.
