Mount Kenya region is considered the epicenter of the Kenyan politics especially for the presidential race in the upcoming general election. Many Political leaders are trying to gain the mountain votes by reaching out to different leaders in the region for their support.
The Orange Democratic Movement ( ODM) party leader Raila Odinga and the Deputy president William Ruto who is Raila's opponent have been endorsed by several leaders from the region.
Raila's supporters from the central have endorsed former Gatanga member of parliament Peter Kenneth to back Raila as his deputy in the upcoming 2022 general elections.
"Sisi kama viongozi wa Murang’a, hatujakuwa na bahati maana viongozi wawili wametoka Kiambu…ule kiongozi mwingine alitoka Nyeri. Sasa tunasema sisi watu wa Murang’a tumejitolea…sasa tunasema tuko na brand yetu, mheshimiwa Peter Kenneth,” said Gatanga MP Joseph Nduati.
Peter Kenneth who has been considered for a running mate position in the ODM chief’s camp,on the other hand, said Murang'a is an important equation and that the time has come when Murang'a must also be at the top chart.
Well, the former MP and presidential candidate Peter Kenneth's endorsement will be a huge impact to the ODM party leader. We just hope that the majority of the mountain region leaders will come to an agreement to endorse him.
"Peter Kenneth tutasimama na wewe, na vile tumekubaliana hapa, tutaendelea na kuambia watu wetu,” Kigumo MP Ruth Mwaniki said.
“Peter Kenneth has outgrown Murang’a, kwa hivo nawaomba kwa heshima kubwa sana mtupatie ili atengeneze na aendeleze hii nchi mbele."Nominated Senator Githua Ngugi also added
