Court Of Appeal Throws Former Governor Sonko Under The Bus Clearing Kananu For Top City Job

Former Governor Sonko has dealt a major blow as the court of appeals slimmed his hopes for being reinstated as the governor for Nairobi county. This came after he filed a case against him impeachment by county assembly and the Senate. The appellate judges dismissed Sonko's application to stop Kananu's impeachment as they cleared her.

This was done by a bench of judges comprising of Wanjiru Karanja, Jamila Mohamed and Jessie Lessit of Court of Appeal. Speaking after making their judgements, they said this;

"We find that the swearing-in of the deputy governor as the substantive governor of Nairobi has no nexus with Sonko's appeal against his impeachment. We therefore find that his application to stop the swearing-in has no merit and we hereby dismiss it" judge's ruling stated.

They said Sonko is free to file his appeal statement without attempting to stop Kananu's swearing in. However, details reveal that Sonko's will go low after her swearing in.
