Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's motorcade was on Friday, blocked and forced to address hundreds of Uasin Gishu county residents.
Gachagua, who was in the town to open the annual Eldoret ASK show was forced to come out of his car and address the residents who ha blocked his motorcade at the famous political corner 'Silverline Hotel'
Gachagua was forced to defend himself and President William Ruto's government over the high cost of living six months after they were both sworn into office. This was after a section of residents could be heard lamenting about the high cost of living.
He blamed the inflation on empty coffers they found at the treasury when they were sworn in. He however, assured residents that Ruto is working round the globe to stabilize economy and bring down cost of living.
"We have started working but as I said during our swearing-in ceremony when we got into government, we found nothing in the store. Rats had even run away because those guys had destroyed our economy. They stole everything and went with money on sacks. We started from scratch and our president has never rested day and night trying to stabilize our economy," stated Gachagua
He said Uhuru's regime bluntly refused to reduce fertilizer prices so as to have North Rift residents hate Ruto. He also added that they have worked hard to reduce fertilizer prices, saying
"Ata mkiona maneno inaenda pole pole msistuke, tulipata store ikiwa empty, sasa tumeanza upya.Tunajaribu kutengeneza mambo ya kodi kwa sababu wale walikua hawakua wanalipa, They sold milk but remitted no taxes, one person had bought all milk companies and brought us unga milk from abroad, We have stopped that and we will never again accept that," he added
He warned Raila Odinga saying he will never buy Raila Odinga's fear inflicted through demonstrations. He said they should instead criticize the government constructively without unlawful demonstrations.
