2022 Presidential Campaigns Takes Another Turn as Former President's Son Joins The Race

Candidates for the presidency are adorning their bids for the highest office in the land. Deputy President William Ruto, ODM leader Rails Odinga, and One Kenya Alliance chiefs are now in the presidential campaign.

Today, however, the contest took on a new dimension as news about Jimmy Wanji, the eldest son of former President Mwai Kibaki and the deputy party leader of the New Democrats, emerged. Jimmy Wanji is anticipated to run for president in the 2022 general elections.

A consultative meeting for Jimmy to run is nearing completion, according to Thuo Mathenge, the party's National Chairman. He also stated that the party has gained former President Mwai Kibaki's blessings through his son Jimmy Kibaki.

"I'd like to declare that TND is well on its way to electing Jimmy Kibaki as our presidential candidate in 2022. As our deputy party leader, he is up to the duty of rescuing the country from bad leadership and putting an end to corruption." According to Mathenge.

"The New Democrats party is a Kenyan political party created to provide Kenya with a new, alternative, and people-centered leadership that provides positive government in the spirit of the new constitutional dispensation," Mathenge continued. He stated his case.
