The Orange Democratic Movement ODM party leader Raila Odinga had seemingly gained and won millions of the Mount Kenya voters' hearts following his regular visits in the region through their leaders and opinion leaders such as businessmen and elites group. The handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga had a great impact on Raila's politics in the Mountain and this has enabled him to 'climb' the mountain with a lot of ease.
In his Azimio La Umoja campaigns, Raila Odinga has been urging Kenyans to embrace the spirit of nationalism and unity as the country heads towards the 2022 general elections period. Kenyans have been also encouraged to avoid the tribal politics instead track record to define the true leader.
On Friday while in the fundraising together with the Interior and Coordination Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i in Nyamira county, the Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohammed made a speech that has continued to raise Kenyans eyebrows. Junet is on the spot following a viral video clip on social media. Jokingly, Junet says that if Raila wins the presidency, the government will only be for Luo community and the Kikuyu's will only be visitors in Luoland.
Among the Mt Kenya leaders who have demanded an apology from Junet Mohammed is Kabando Wa Kabando. According to majority of Kenyans who have reacted online, ODM's popularity in the region has been reduced to some extent following Junet's statement.
