President Uhuru Kenyatta has been appointed by The East African Community block as the chair. President Uhuru, who was appointed on Saturday as the new chair, takes over the position from president Paul Kagame of Rwanda.

The appointment comes after the president is seriously working on the Kenyan constitutional amendments. The appointment which was done virtually due to COVID-19 measures, had no opponent in the position. This made the other heads of states to give him.
In his address after being appointed, Uhuru promised to reunite EAC block countries unity. On the same note, he allowed free entry of South Sudan netizens without Visas of entry. President Uhuru is set to work as the new chair of EAC from next month.

However Kenyans have given mixed reactions of the president’s appointment. Some critics said the position should have been given to Magufuli. This is because he has long time to stay in office. Others congratulated him for the new appointment. President Uhuru is set to retire from Presidency due to his two terms coming to an end.
