It has been alleged that former president Mwai Kibaki has chosen his eldest son Jimmy to succeed His Excellency the Head of State president Uhuru Kenyatta.
These details have been revealed by renown billionaire businessman Thuo Mathenge on Sunday in an exclusive interview with the People Daily newspaper.
According to details, the former president has chosen his own son who is the current deputy party leader of the The New Democratic Party of Kenya.
This is a huge blow to presidential candidates who had hoped that the retired president would endorse them ahead of the upcoming presidential elections.
There were allegations that president Mwai Kibaki had endorsed deputy president William Ruto for the top seat through a video that is going on in the social media.
Kiswahili speakers will quickly realise that Kibaki doesn’t mention Ruto at all during the 10-minute speech. But to be sure there wasn’t a mention in an unfilmed part of the speech, we investigated the origins of the video.
Kibaki has kept away from public life after finishing his term in 2013, rarely taking to the podium to address the public. Most YouTube videos of him giving a speech are at least four years old.
