Kelvin Lunani, the leader of the Amani National Congress, has formally accepted defeat in the contest for the Busia County seat of Butula.
Even before the election commission released the final results, he made the choice.
Mr. Lunani declared he would collaborate closely with the victor to enhance the quality of life for people living in Butula, implying that the incumbent Joseph Oyula of the ODM was ahead of him in the polls.
"We all hail from Butula, and I swear to support the winner. I would want to take this occasion to congratulate Oyula on his victory as he begins his second term "said he.John Kirui, the returning officer for the constituency, reported that tallying was taking place. They had already tallied the results from 30 of the 139 polling places and were awaiting the arrival of the results from two centers.
