Raila Odinga and President William Ruto have been engaged in fierce conflict for months and years. After William Ruto defeated Baba in the recently concluded August general election, he ended up defeating him again in the majority seats of Parliament, but not in the majority seat position of the Nairobi County Assembly. This is due to the fact that Raila Odinga's Azimio camp was proclaimed the majority coalition party in the Nairobi county Assembly after a contentious battle, and today, Azimio received a significant boost as Ruto's friend Kimani Mugo cried foul over the majority position in the Nairobi county Assembly.
Kimani Mugo stated, in an interview with TV47 Kenya, that Ruto's Kenya Kwanza camp should be the largest coalition of parties in the Nairobi County Assembly, not Baba's party. He continued by stating that they have numbers and are therefore bewildered when told that Azimio are the majority.
Kenyans are still expecting the final recommendations of the vetting committee about the approval or disapproval of any of president William Ruto's cabinet secretaries.
President William Ruto, on the other hand, awakened to a morning surprise: he may lose some of his cabinet secretaries due to rumors that Azimio la Umoja's members of parliament (the opposition) are exerting pressure on their colleagues to remove Ruto's choices from the top ministerial positions. Allegedly, a portion of Raila Odinga's followers believe that four of Kenya Kwanza's nominees for the CS are inept and have pending legal processes, which would be a major obstacle for the government's efforts to expedite completion.
Moses Kuria, cabinet secretary for Trade, Industry, and Investment, is one of the CS's at risk of losing their nominations if Azimio's effort is successful. They contend that he is qualified for the job. Legislators in Azimio assert that Penina Malonza failed to demonstrate that she understood the requirements of her docket, so placing her at danger of rejection. Aisha Jumwa and Mithika Linturi are deemed unsuitable for cabinet positions due to pending legal concerns.
