Though he has always insisted that he will never back down in his quest to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta come the next general election, ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi may be forced to swallow his pride and back ODM leader Raila Odinga.
This comes amid reports of President Kenyatta's spirited effort to rally the One Kenya Alliance principals to back Raila in his fifth stab at the presidency.
With the reality seemingly dawning on OKA principals that Uhuru will never change his mind in his support for Raila to succeed him, Mudavadi and the likes of Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka will weigh their options ahead of 2022.

With the Building Bridges Initiative dead and buried after the Supreme Court ruling, Mudavadi and others will be forced to settle on ministerial jobs if they opt to back Raila for the top seat.
Having styled himself as someone with the magic bullet to fix the country's economy shoundy he be elected as President, Mudavadi can be that person that Raila can turn to in his economic transformation agenda should he win the presidency in 2022.

Having served as Finance Minister during the President Daniel Arap Moi regime, Mudavadi is very experienced in matters economy and finance. It is therefore not surprising that he is the hot favourite for the job should he join hands with Raila ahead of the 2022 contest.
The Finance docket is one of the most crucial and powerful ministries in any Government. And this is the ministry that the former Vice President could occupy in the Raila Government.
Though he is still playing hard ball, it is widely expected that Mudavadi will soon abandon his quest to succeed Uhuru and throw his weight behind Raila. And should he do that, he will be rewarded handsomely in "Tinga's" Government.
