Kiraitu Murungi is the second governor of Meru county who recently endorsed right honourable former prime minister Baba Raila Odinga for the top seat, the governor was on the receiving end after deputy president William Ruto called him a "foolish" for selling Raila Odinga in the county.
Days after endorsing Raila Odinga, Kiraitu Murungi has decided to form his own party, Devolution Empowerment Party which has the colours of Green and Yellow that are also associated with deputy president William Ruto's newly formed party of United Democratic Alliance which has a wheelbarrow as a symbol. Murungi's party has a bus as its symbol saying that it has the ability of carrying oranges (ODM), wheelbarrows (UDA), umbrellas (Wiper) and all other parties in the country.
