After succeeding George Kinoti who presented his resignation from office as Director General of the Directorate of Criminal Investigation, Amin Mohamed has made a number of reforms at the organization.
Obadiah Kuriah, who received a promotion and was assigned to Turkana County as the Head of Investigations, is one among those who was impacted.
Kuriah formerly served as the DCI's predecessor Kinoti's assistant and oversaw the Serious Crime Unit.
After disowning an affidavit that connected Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to the KSh 7.4 billion corruption scandal, Kuriah recently made news. The previous DCI chief, who was the Mathira MP at the time, the officer claimed, put pressure on him to implicate Gachagua.
Kuriah said in an affidavit he signed on October 13 that the investigating body's top brass had prevented detectives from conducting adequate inquiries to determine Rigathi's involvement in the misappropriation of the aforementioned funds at the National Irrigation Board.
