Governorment Spokesperson Ofwono Opondo today again come out to comment on the matter of General Muhoozi Kainerubaga being on the ballot paper in come 2026 presidential elections.

According to Ofwono Opondo, there is no law that forbids General Muhoozi Kainerugaba from contesting for the presidency in any Ugandan election process, adding Kainerugaba has all what is takes for his name to appear on the ballot paper.

Mr Ofwono Opondo noted that General Muhoozi is a Ugandan with very good academic qualifications and therefore he is eligible to contest for any post he is interested to when time for the polls comes.

The Ugandan spokesperson has urged the opposition leaders who may not wish General Muhoozi Kainerugaba to contest for presidency to move to parliament and come up with a law that can prevent him from contesting for an election.

"If you know General Muhoozi Kainerugaba is not suitable to contest for presidency, ask your area legislator to move to parliament and come up with a law that will prevent him from vying for the post in the near future," Ofwono Opondo said.

The outspoken government Spokesperson's remarks came at a time when there is a public opinion doing rounds that the incumbent President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is warming up his son to take over from him as the next president.
