COTU Elections: Atwoli Or Panyako, Who Takes Over In Today's Election?

The Secretary-General of COTU Francis Atwoli today is expected to go head to head with Seth Panyako in the election of the Workers Union COTU.

Atwoli has held that position since 2001 when he took over from his predecessor Joseph Mugalla. Before he was elected for that post, he was the secretary for the farmers union in the country.

Earlier, while Atwoli was on his farm in Nakuru, he had hinted that he might retire anytime noting that he has 71 years old.

Atwoli is facing high competition from Panyako who has speech of his hope to take over that seat. This election is happening at a time when the workers are facing a lot of challenges economically following the current covid 19 pandemics.

Some of the workers are blaming Atwoli for getting involved in politics instead of looking after their welfare.

Earlier, Atwoli was against KAWI for increasing petrol prices in the country.
