Mary urged Kenyans to uphold peace even after the announcement of the winner in the closely contested race between Azimio's Raila Amolo Odinga and Deputy President Dr William Ruto of Kenya Kwanza. She asked voters to restrain from any form of actions that might disrupt peace. "We ought to refrain from insults and hate and accept the outcome of presidential elections."

Mrs Atwoli reminded Kenyans that there is life after elections and that hate and love can never be the same thing. She asked everyone to stay calm and spread peace, love and tranquility throughout this season. "We have a life to live after elections, let us stop any actions that can provoke our brothers and sisters but live in harmony," she said.
