Speaking in an interview with Tv47, Jimmy Gakuya sparked a mixed reactions online after claiming that the Azimio la Umoja leader should be the first person to go and salute the president-elect Dr William Ruto. According to Jimmy Gakuya, this is how things should be in a democratic country like kenya. He ahead to claim that the president will have to ensure there is balance in his government irrespective of the areas that he was overwhelmingly supported and areas he wasn't supported. This comes with few days remaining to the swearing of the president -elect as a president of the republic of Kenya after the supreme court upheld his win as announced by IEBC. Dr William Ruto is expected to assume the full roles as the president on Tuesday 13th after his swearing in. However, Gakuya's remarks comes after Azimio la Umoja team claimed that they have respected the verdict of the court but they don't agree with them.
Gakuya's remarks echoes the sentiments of Kagwanja who was a strong person in Azimio's camp and his now in Ruto's camp. Earlier he claimed that many were not in Azimio la Umoja team for their wish but they were forced and that is why they are going back to Kenya Kwanza
