The country is one of the most hotly contested seats in the country, top candidates are in the race to take over the county in the next five years. The people of the county are preferring former governor, William Gitau Kabogo as their governor. Kabogo has emerged top with 35.1%, Kimani Wamatangi comes second with 23.6%, James Nyoro is at 18.5%, followed by Patrick Wainaina, Moses Kuria and Mwende Gatabaki.

In the Northern county, Mohammed Aden Khalif has emerged the most preferred gubernatorial candidate with 36.1%, Hassan Noor Hassan comes second with 32.5% and Adan Muhamed Jari comes third with 29.3%.

Kisumu.
In the Kisumu city race, current Orange Democratic Movement candidate Anyang' Nyong'o is likely to retain his seat to finish his second term, he is leading with 59 percent support. Former governor Jack Ranguma comes second with 39.4%, Awuor Beryl Meso comes third with 1.4%.
